FALL 2020 REGISTRATION & COVID-19

Welcome to Burlingame AYSO!

FALL 2020 SEASON

Our Board voted to proceed with a socially distanced fall soccer program, in line with state and local guidelines. Our program, like these times, will look different from what you have known. There will be no games or scrimmages - the focus is on player development while remaining physically distant.

Critically, the program will require the uniform and consistent cooperation of all participants -- players, parents, coaches and other volunteers -- to support the opportunity for players to be able to get out on the field with their team.

Here’s what we have to share as of today on program details:

  • Program dates: Sept. 26 to Nov. 21
  • Eligible age groups: Under 10 division and older only (birth years 2002-2012)
  • Sessions per week: Two 60-75 minute sessions - one weekday (time/day based on coach availability), one Saturday
  • Training pod/team size cap:
    • Under 14-19 (2002-2008): 14 players
    • Under 12 (2009-2010): 12 players
    • Under 10 (2011-2012): 9 players
  • Team coaches/Parent volunteers: All teams required to have two coaches with prior AYSO coaching experience, and two parent safety volunteers (1 safety volunteer required per practice session)
  • Registration priority: Children of coaches/volunteers; first come, first serve from waitlist. Note: Participation is contingent on having a sufficient number of coach and safety volunteers.
  • Registration fee: $170 (resident); $255 (non-resident) -- payment to be made after you accept a spot (once pulled off the waitlist)
  • Key safety precautions:
    • Coaches wear masks at all times
    • Players wear masks at all times, except during high-exertion activities
    • Players bring own ball, mask, sanitizer and water; no sharing of any equipment, except passing is permitted (ball provided at first practice)
    • Parents required to complete pre-session safety check of participant
    • Parents must wear mask if leaving car at drop-off/pick-up; parents not to congregate at field.

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions or feedback.

What's Next?

We Need Coach and Parent Safety Volunteers!

We are working furiously to get our coach and parent safety monitor volunteers identified so we can start forming team pods and pulling players off the waitlist. Parent safety volunteers will be expected to attend a training and help coaches enforce protocols during practice sessions - each team will have two volunteers, so each volunteer should only need to cover one session per week. Will you volunteer? Please register as a volunteer NOW! Go to burlingameayso.org and login (creating a new account if necessary), and click on "Volunteer".

Do You/Your Child Want to Participate?

Best way to guarantee your spot is to sign up to volunteer. If you are not able to, watch your email for more info once we can start registration.

If You/Your Child DO NOT Want to Participate, Please Let Us Know.

Help us manage our recruitment needs by letting us know you will not participate so we can take you off the waitlist. Email [email protected] with your child’s name and that you will not participate.

General Information for Typical Season

Fall Season games start the weekend after Labor Day for the U4 Playground (born Jan. 1 - Sept. 1, 2017) through U14 (born 2007 and 2008) Divisions. Practices for U7 (born 2014) through U14 begin in mid-August. Games are on Saturdays, with an additional Sunday game mid-season. The U16 (born 2005 and 2006) and U19 (born 2002-2004) Divisions’ games start in early August; some games are played during the week. The season runs about 3 months, nine to ten weeks for regular season play (including pre-season practice), plus approximately two weeks of additional play for the season-ending Burlingame Cup. The season typically ends by the second week of November.

Practices

All practices are held on the various fields located within Burlingame. U6 (born 2015) and younger do not have any practices. U7 through U19 have one practice per week of 1-1.5 hours, and timing is determined based on volunteer coaches’ and field availability. Practices are held Monday through Friday.
